Man United weighing up £25million move for teenage defender: report

Manchester United’s search for a new centre-half has been well documented over the last twelve months. I still firmly believe a lack of investment in that area is what cost Jose Mourinho his job.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that lightning doesn’t strike twice in that regard, with the Baby Faced Assassin seemingly already planning for a permanent future at United.

According to French media outlet Le10Sport, translated by The Daily Star, Manchester United are weighing up a move for William Saliba.

The 18-year-old currently plies his trade for St Etienne in Ligue 1, with the teenager being eyed by some of European football’s top clubs.

With a £25million (€30m) price tag, it’s clear that he’s one for the future with United currently in pole position.

Saliba is a player that I know nothing about. My main concern is the fact that United have already tried the strategy of signing young defenders and trying to nurture their talent – but it hasn’t worked as the club have probably hoped.

I still feel that United need a real experienced leader, preferably someone with Premier League experience. Sure, Saliba may turn out to be an incredibly talented player, but right now, we need someone who can come in and make a real impact from day one.
