Ratings: Pathetic Manchester United fall to 4-0 defeat against Everton; poor performances all around; top four gone!

Manchester United were beaten 4-0 by Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Easter Sunday. It was the biggest defeat of the season for United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, also the sixth defeat in the last eight matches. Top four is vastly out of reach for United now, unless other teams ask United to hold their beer.

It was one of those matches that United needed to win in order to take advantage of Tottenham Hotspur losing against Manchester City on Saturday. However, in times where other teams above United have slipped up, United tend to follow them. That is exactly what happened at Goodison Park on Sunday!

The performance of this team was largely poor with little to take home other than a massive clear out being needed in the summer, but that writing has been on the wall for a long time now. Not that it will happen though, it is clear that United want to reward failure, which has been the case recently, especially renewing players contracts who should have left the club already. Who would want any of them?

Match Statistics:

1 David De Gea

Conceded four goals. Made a few saves in the game. His mind is not in this at all. It is not all his fault but when a player looks like they does not want to be at the club, it is bound to affect others.

2 Victor Lindelof

The Swede is the best central defender at the club this season and he was forced out to right-back in this game, at least for the first half. Jones was poor and Smalling has many mistakes in him. Defensive rebuild needed with Lindelof central to it.

12 Chris Smalling

Poor once again. Needs to be told to find another club. Should not have been rewarded with a new long-term contract. Who would want to buy him?

12345

4 Phil Jones

It was a poor defensive performance from Jones, and his teammates again. United needed a win and they were 2-0 down in half an hour. Jones was unable to continue into the second half after suffering a knock and being replaced by Young.

12345

20 Diogo Dalot

Started at left-back. Got forward a lot in the game but could not inspire his teammates. He’s one of, if not the only one, that I would like to see at the club next season. He was always a player for the future.

12345

17 Fred

Fred has emerged as a decent midfielder recently, despite the results. He was withdrawn at half-time, replaced by McTominay

12345

31 Nemanja Matic

Returned to the starting XI after injury. Seemed to make United worse in this defeat, their biggest in around three years. Out of touch, out of form and surely on his way to being out of the club?

12345

6 Paul Pogba

What did he do in this game? He floated a ball into Rashford, which turned into a miss for the England forward. Other than that, there was no urgency, no interest and nothing to carry or guide his team forward. Some say he has leadership qualities, I say he’s been hiding for a while now. Goodbye, La Pioche.

12345

10 Marcus Rashford

Did a little for United with United still seeking a shot on target after he left the pitch in the 77th minute. Rashford needs to find improvement. He seems to be one of the only ones who could inspire his team. This is on the players, it always was.

12345

9 Romelu Lukaku

The Belgian continue his fall from grace. His three braces in a row have been long forgotten. The Everton faithful will be proud of his performance at Goodison Park, unable to keep up with the game or pose much of a risk for United.

12345

11 Anthony Martial

Showed his lack of ability against Everton. Was one of the players with the fewest number of touches in the game. Not good enough for United. I fear for those people who think he could win the Ballon d’Or during his career. Still, he’s got five years at the club to look forward to.
