Must Win For Man United
It is that time of the season when Manchester United cannot have any more slip ups. They are trailing in the race for the top four and Champions League qualifications and six points from the remaining two matches are simply what has to happen for the Devils. After all, if situation is already such, then at least the good part is that Man United are finishing their season with matches against relegated Huddersfield and almost relegated Cardiff City. By the time of that final day of the season, the Welsh might already be doomed to a Championship return.
Man United’s could finish the season with 71 points. Whether that will be enough for Champions League football, it is up to Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.
Huddersfield Are Derby 07-08 Lookalike
We know this is a very obvious thing, but we still need to say it – Huddersfield Town are really bad. Like, REALLY bad. They have won three matches throughout the Premier League season, one since the 25 November – yes, that is close to five and a half months – and they have been relegated for so long now. After winning 14 points so far, they are just a little bit better than Derby County from more than a decade ago and that is really how bad they have been.
Their last points came against Wolverhampton Wanderers in a 1-0 win and they have four points since the start of 2019. We can go on and on about how terrible they have been, but in the end, this was an incredible journey for them. Terriers did not expect to go up in 2016-17, they did a great job to stay up in the league next season and two seasons in Premier League is something they can build on in the future, if they do things properly once they return to Championship this August.
A (Very Leaky Defence)
When a team is making such poor results, it is a logical thing to have a very leaky defence. And theirs is not even the worst, at least for now. Fulham have conceded 76, two more than Huddersfield, but no one will really care about that. Jonas Lossl had a decent first season in Premier League last year, but this season he was peppered from all sides and with a defence of Schindler, Zanka, Kongolo and others, no wonder they struggled. There are eight teams that allowed more shots on goal than Terriers, but that is why the statistics must be used properly. A look at expected goals against still points out that their defence is the second worst in the league.
Goalscorer Grant Tells A Good Story
Karlan Grant is the best goalscorer for Huddersfield this season. The fact he played his first minutes in February and there have been 17 Huddersfield players with more minutes than him this season is telling how seldom they score. Grant has four goals to his name already, with only Zanka and Mooy scoring three times. Man United should be getting a clean-sheet this time against them, which would be a good preparation for the last match against Cardiff.
